Mommy Makeover

Each year the Fillmore Elementary School Kindergartener's host a "Mommy-Makeover".
At the Mommy-Makeover, the children start by
serenading their mothers,
then they paint their nails,
fix their hair,
apply eye shadow,
perfume, blush and lip gloss.
When the makeover is complete, the children escort their Moms back to their classroom
where they serve them punch and cookies and present them with a special gift.

Here is Steven with some of the other kids, getting ready to sing.

My "before" picture.

My "after" picture.
I was one of the "lucky" Moms who got very neutral colors for eyeshadow and blush...
some other Moms weren't so lucky...

Here is Steven with all his supplies for the makeover.

My special gift: a book and flower.

Celeste wins writing award!

As you will see from the series of pictures below,
Celeste was the one second-grader from Fillmore Elementary
to win the district's award for excellence in writing!
One student from each grade at each school in the district was singled out for this honor.
And, probably a first in Warren Consolidated history,
Celeste completed a three-peat!!
Celetse won as a kindergartener, a first-grader and again this year as a second-grader!
WAY TO GO CELESTE!!
WE ARE SO PROUD!!!
The event was held at Sterling Heights High School.
The evening started with an informal dinner reception.
We had sandwich wraps, pasta salad, sun chips and a cookie for dessert.

Celeste and her teacher, Mrs. Raychev.

The guest speaker, and children's book author, Denise Brennan-Nelson.

A look at the program.

Check out the third column, third name down.

Celeste and her fellow Fillmore Elementary winners.

The 4th grade winner could not be present.

The 136th running of the Kentucky Derby!
The most exciting 2 minutes in sports!

I made a bet with the kids,
they each got to pick 2 horses and if one of their horses won...
I'd give them $5.00.

Steven chose "Lookin At Lucky" and "Super Saver"

Celeste chose "Lookin At Lucky" and "Nobel's Promise"

Logan decided to go with "Devil May Care"

Unbelievable so, one of Steven's horses won...
and he has not stopped pestering me for his $5.00 since!
